Create a devotional painting using earth pigments that honors the power of your Yoni. Participants will be guided to paint a representation of a Yoni on a pice of wood that they can place on their altar as a sacred totem. “Yoni” is a Sanskrit word which translates as Divine Portal, and refers to the female reproductive system (womb, vulva and vagina). This art project encourages exploration of your relationship to your Yoni, and provides an opportunity for deep healing. In this class you'll be able to witness the alchemical beauty of tranforming undyed fibers into living color pieces. We'll be experimenting with extracted dye from plants, modifiers and/or eco printing on organic fibers. During this class we will take a journey into the ancient techniques of weaving, where we will not only learn the skill but also discover the therapeutic benefits of working with natural materials. We will be using one of the oldest basket weaving techniques, coil weaving, to weave pine needle baskets. A style practiced by many people groups.
