Renée Camila

Renée Camila

Renée Camila (she/ella) is a bilingual community herbalist, traditional birthworker, folk educator, and mother. As the daughter of Nicaraguan immigrants, her practice La Yerba Buena Herbs draws from her Spanish and Indigenous (Chorotega) ancestry. She is dedicated to the empowerment and healing offered by traditional medicines rooted in a decolonial lens.

As a traditional healing practitioner, she recognizes the interconnectivity between the health of the individual, the health of our communities, and the health of the Earth. She understands the birth ceremony as a reflection of these relations and sees traditional birthwork as a radical tool for ancestral healing with the potential to cultivate resilience in our fight against systemic oppression. She is one of the hosts of the Indigenous-centered radio show and podcast The Herbal Highway and is co-founder of the queer-led and social justice oriented Now and Then Herb School.

Renée will be sharing Healing Insecurity: A Journey in Plant Spirit Medicine and Seed of Creation: Exploring the Seat of our Power
