Shelyrose Wright is an interdisciplinary artist, with a background in herbalism, yoga, somatics and ancestral energetic healing practices. She grew up among the red mountains in Las Vegas, Nevada where she learned that the land breathes, feels, remembers and understands. Born from parents who’s ancestors were descendants from Nigeria, Benin, Togo and other central West African regions she has learned and is still learning to connect the threads from traditions lost by weaving together ancestry, ancestry of land and the knowledge and ancient wisdom of the plants.
In a state of disconnection from land and self, due to past years of taught and learnt ways of adapting to her surroundings. She found herself living on the more recent ancestral lands of North Carolina, where the plants, her ancestors, as well as the ancestors of the land began to call to her. In this, nursing her back to life again and teaching her how to share this with others. It was during this time she discovered herbalism and herbalism discovered her.
She now holds space for others through sacred in person and online ceremonies. Crafting personal ceremonies while also offering plant spirit meditations, consultations, somatic movement and embodiment classes for women.
During her years of on going training she has found herself working with mentors who graciously and openly have shared the trainings from their mentors with her. She is a certified herbalist, yoga instructor, astrologer, reiki master and ceremonialist. With a background and a Bachelor of Arts in dance, her work goes beyond the physical world into the energetics that weaves together all space and all time. It’s from this place that she dances, offers and spirals the tendrils of land, lineage, cosmology, and realms unseen as one.
Shelyrose will be teaching Plant Spirit Meditation and Movement.
