09 Jan Areca Smith
Areca Smit is a neuro-spicy solo mama, systems weaver, storyteller, and strategist working at the intersection of birth justice, community power, and creative vision. She first camped in fourth grade and immediately felt the magic of sleeping outside on the land. Over the last 25+ years, she’s taken many people on their first camping trips, taught camping basics, and helped friends and community members build skills and confidence outdoors.
Areca views camping — and remembering her place in nature — as essential to her well-being, sovereignty, and liberation. Her camping practice is slow and accessible, grounded in ease, grace, watching, waiting, listening, playing, and learning. She believes everyone deserves tools that make it easier to go outside and feel at home there.
Areca will be teaching Camp Box Preparartion as Practice.
