09 Jan Ancestral Stew & the Lineage of Maternal Care
Gather around the hearth to remember and practice ancestral stew-making as the centerpiece of village care, a healing tradition older than written recipes, borders, or modern frameworks of health.
This session pays particular attention to how warm, nutrient-rich broth-based soups support women in their childbearing years—from menstruation and fertility to pregnancy and postpartum.
Around the open fire, Rachel will weave stories through recipes and culinary techniques to carry forward traditions of the humble, life-sustaining stew. Together, we will prepare and tend a communal pot, learning time-honored skills rooted in warmth, digestibility, and deep nourishment. You will learn:
How to reclaim the kitchen as temple– a sacred & communal space for healing and connection
Ingredients and cooking methods that support digestion, womb wellness, and vitality
Culinary herbalism for selecting spices & herbs to rebuild the maternal body
Step-by-step fundamentals of brewing bone broth, building a grounding flavor base, slow-cooking animal proteins, and layering ingredients for balance and depth
This session is a hands-on, sensory-expansive experience that culminates in a communal meal together.
Ancestral Stew will be shared by Rachel Musquiz
