The Kosmic Kitchen

The Kosmic Kitchen was born out of a friendship. We met when sewing the seeds for a community garden. It was there that we discovered herbalism, and the plants’ incredible capacity to heal. Each harvest, we brought home an abundance of herbs and discovered new (and old) ways to incorporate them into our everyday. Through this practice, we began to see our kitchen as a sanctuary. A place to nourish, heal, and make magic.

After being introduced to the world of plants, we set out on journeys to deepen this connection. Together we studied permaculture at The Regenerative Design Institute in Bolinas, California in 2011 and Herbalism at The Florida School of Holistic Living in Orlando, Florida in 2012. Summer then ventured to Vermont to apprentice with renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, which led her to study at The California School of Herbal Studies in 2013. During this time, Sarah interned at Herb Pharm in Oregon, apprenticed at Tassajara Zen Kitchen in California, and went on to study Amazonian plants in the Peru. Now our roots are in California, and we’re continuing our studies in Ayurveda at the Dhyana Center in Sebastopol.

Our goal is to make kitchen herbalism accessible to all, so that everyone can have a connection to the plants. We’re working toward this through education, consultations, retreats, and more. Our teachings are inspired by Western Herbalism and Ayurvedic Medicine, layered with our own twist. We believe that through understanding the basics of the earth’s elements and plants, you become your own best healer.
