30 Dec Grief and Loss in Troubled Times
Unexplored grief is a common condition. Our buried grief and trauma inhibits us, weakens us and contributes to our fear and misery. Our coping mechanisms harms and isolates us. In our modern world, there is much to grieve; climate change, war and unfettered greed, a recent global pandemic, the list is endless. What is the antidote to the sorrows we carry? As a midwife and a Buddhist chaplain, I have led grief and loss circles for medical students, fellow midwives, those in recovery programs and the public for many years. I have counseled individuals with birth trauma. In this circle, we tell our stories in circle, giving our sadness room to breathe. Holding ourselves and each other in kindness and mercy, we will deeply listen with our hearts. Through meditative silence, breath work and our linked stories, we can begin or continue the work of compassionate healing for ourselves and the world.
Everyone is welcome.
