02 Jan Dharmika Henshel
Dharmika is a botanist and musician from Eugene, Oregon. Before moving north, her Watershed Management degree led her to southern Oregon. Her love for plants, as well as her music, were shaped by years in the mountains, conducting rare plant surveys over thousands of acres of forest land. She fell in love with the complex ecosystems and diversity of southern Oregon plant life.
She moved north and continued with wetland delineation and seed collection work, and then focused on raising two kids. Pivoting to ecology education, she produced an award-winning children’s music album about rainforests, “Good Green Fun!”, before her present musical endeavors, producing and performing uplifting, nature-based sing-along folk music and circle songs, and her new album, “Linger by the Water”. She’s also created educational nature trails, led workshops on plant identification and uses, and initiated an ethnobotany project in West Eugene to support native uses of plants on government land.
Coming back to southern Oregon at Spirit Weavers, she is thrilled to be able to introduce you to some of her old plant friends, Wimmin’s Music classics, and original chants.
Dharmika will be sharing Chant Alchemy and a Plant Identification Walk
