Dharmika Henshel

Dharmika is a botanist and musician from Eugene, Oregon. Before moving north, though, her Watershed Management degree led her to southern Oregon. Her love for plants, as well as her music, were shaped by years in the mountains, conducting rare plant surveys over thousands of acres of forest land. She fell in love with the complex ecosystems and diversity of southern Oregon plant life.

She moved north and continued with wetland delineation and seed collection work, while raising two kids. Pivoting to ecology education, she produced an award-winning children’s music album about rainforests, “Good Green Fun!”, before her present musical endeavors, producing and performing uplifting, nature-based sing-along folk music. She’s also created educational nature trails, led workshops on plant identification and uses, and initiated an ethnobotany project in West Eugene to support traditional Oregon tribal uses of plants on government land.

Coming back to southern Oregon at Spirit Weavers, she led some impromptu plant walks the last couple of years, and is looking forward to introducing you to some of her old friends in the woods

Dharmika Henshel will be sharing Plant Identification Walk.
