We are the keepers of the seeds, women. It has been our job to ensure the future generations and now that is no different than it was. Sofia teaches health and wellness through food sovereignty and empowering women to reclaim their power via the connection to our food.
This class will specifically focus on the Corn Mother, the life-force of Mesoamerica and Turtle Island. How to take the raw heirloom corn (organic and non GMO corn that is safe kept by families on Turtle Island and Mexico) and go from start to finish of what it takes to make something as simple as a Tortilla. Sofia will also teach the ancestral skill of nixtamalization which is an age-old technique rooted in Maya and Aztec tradition.
