Tenochtitlan to Tortilla, a Hands-on History about Maize. We are the keepers of the seeds, women. It has been our job to ensure the future generations and now that is no different than it was. Sofía teaches health and wellness through food sovereignty and empowering femme bodies & souls to reclaim their power via the connection to our food. This class will specifically focus on the Corn Mother, the life-force of Abya Yala – the “American Continent”. How to take the raw heirloom corn (organic and non GMO corn that is safe kept by families on Turtle Island and Mexico) and go from start to finish of what it takes to make something as simple as a Tortilla. Sofía will also teach the ancestral skill of nixtamalization which is an age-old technique rooted in Anahuac tradition. Suggested donation of $10 – $20 to cover cost of materials.
