11 Dec Sacred Songwriting
Each one of us has a story to tell and a song to sing, but sometimes getting it down on paper can be the hardest part. Writing a song is a deep personal process of emotional expression, storytelling, and catharsis. The process alone is ritual, and can be utilized as a powerful ceremony for self exploration and transformation. From my personal experience, I can say that telling my story and showing my expression through songwriting has not only deeply changed me, but all those who have been touched by the song. The power of this creation is that afterward, it can be shared, passed, and enjoyed by countless others for generations to come.
In this workshop, we will move through a guided journey of how to connect with our muse and source of inspiration, and write the songs our souls were meant to sing. The class will begin with a guided meditation that connects us to our creative expression and inspiration. We will cultivate a re-connection with the muse inside and in the world around us. We will ask nature and our deepest selves to bring us the theme, or story of the song we will write.
Then the tools will be given to transform that inspiration into concrete writing. I will share my process and methods for songwriting and channeling sacred songs. We will cover everything from brainstorming techniques, rhyme and rhythm, melody composition, storytelling, light language, song writing structure, and creative excersizes.
The class will be an active workshop wherein each participant will be writing their own song throughout the workshop. There will be instructional times, excersizes, and personal work time with accessibility to me as a guide.
The intention of this class is to share what I know and what has worked for me, and to empower my sisters to find their creative voice, expression, and song.
