Partnering With Beaver and Other Techniques to Restore Our Watersheds and Build Climate Change Resiliency: A Walk and Talk on the Illinois River. Max. students: unlimited. No materials fee. Kate Lundquist of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center WATER Institute will talk about the important role keystone species and processes play in watershed health and how we can engage in meaningful ways to become better watershed stewards. Learn about how beaver can help both urban and rural communities restore rivers and recover endangered species such as salmon. Kate will share lessons learned from her Bring Back the Beaver Campaign, talk about waterwise techniques (composting toilets, rainwater collection and graywater) and offer insights on how others can take action in the regions they call home. (3 hour walk and talk).
