16 May Melissa Barron
The Waning Moon Years
The Waning Moon session will be hosted by “Crone of Arc” (aka Melissa Barron), an age disrupter & age-positive advocate. Ageism is one more cog in the intersectional feminism wheel that eventually affects all womxn. It’s disheartening that our current “Shelter-at-Home” reality has only proven that women continue to shoulder most of the burdens of domestic responsibilities like home schooling, childcare, cooking, laundry, and cleaning – without pay & many working another full-time job – even when men are also confined to their homes. Women have not “come a long way, baby” since the feminist wave of the late 1960s – especially in regards to women’s limited & limiting roles within our culture. Regression is not an option if we ever want to dismantle our ingrained external & internal patriarchy, white supremacy, racism, heterosexism, sexism, capitalism, ageism, etc. In order to advance modern society & ensure a thriving future for womxn, during this “Pandemic Recalibration Interval,” we need to leverage our power & focus our energies on demanding equal human rights for womxn. How do think we can we “save” our Mother Earth if we are maintained in these subservient roles with no legal sovereignty over our own bodies? We can’t even “save” ourselves! As a feminist and advocate for OLDER WOMXN – an invisible, underutilized & marginalized demographic – Crone of Arc reframes our cultural conditioning around this dishonored life stage and will share some ideas on how to kick-up some dust, have our voices heard, and effect necessary change as we age & ride towards our golden sunset years!
Just show up with an open heart and mind.
If you’re into history, have Hulu & the time – please watch the excellent “Mrs. America.” It will give you an idea of the period of time that shaped me and why womxn still don’t have the same equal rights as men in this country.
