Labels, Language and Legalese

Labels, Language and Legalese

“Labels, language and legalese” is a class/circle that explores the different labels we put on ourselves, each other, and the energetic, legal and spiritual implications of calling oneself a “person of color”, “minority”, “trans”, “patriot”, etc. A variety of exercises will be shared in circle along with a gentle examination of what we cast on ourselves and others. Capitalism is founded on identity and seeing one’s self as “I” before anything else. I want to journey with whoever will come with me and be willing to get uncomfortable by really looking at the history and etymology of what we call ourselves and feel into how the words serve us in the liberation that we seek. Language itself can enslave or empower, and we call it spelling for a reason. Join me in a joyful envisioning of a future with healthy, freedom fighting language.

Mekah S. Dey will be offering “Labels, Language and Legalese”.
