Honoring the Threshold: Holding Rites of Passage For Our Daughters
In this class we will explore ways to bring Rites of Passage back into our communities and families. We will explore how to honor and celebrate a girls becoming through deep nature connection and ritual..
I will share some practices that have powerfully emerged in the annual 5 day Rites of Passage ceremonies we have been hosting in the Appalachian Mountains for the past 13 years.
We will discuss how these Rites of Passages can support and hydrate all women in all stages of life by stepping forth to be elders, radiant mothers and sacred aunties.
How can we birth a healthy village culture if we do not initiate our girls into womanhood? How can we initiate our girls into womanhood if we do not have a healthy village ecology to support the richness of this passage? How can we hold Rites of Passage for our daughters without the support of a village ecology in deep relationship with the more than human world?
Over the past thirteen years of holding Rites of Passage ceremonies and ongoing mentoring support for girls stepping into their womanhood. I’ve seen how Rites of Passage pulses life into all stages and ages of women, their families, the Earth and their communities. I believe Rites of Passage must be held in the arms of Gaia and Nature Connection, in the context of all life, and with the wisdom and guidance of women all along the path of their own journeys- initiated or not.
For this coming of age calls and requires older women to step into being Elders, and mothers to be in their sacred role of Mother, it calls the healers to be healers and requires all involved to Roots into the earth and the remembrance of all cycles and rhythms.
I will be sharing aspects that have/are emerging as core rituals and practices in our Rites of Passage. And feast you all with inspiration from the new generation and what they have been teaching me and each other. We will collectively support you to hold and honor the threshold into Wise Womanhood for your daughters and the daughters of this world.
