Jade Egg: Rooting & Raising

The Jade Egg is a carved and polished egg-shaped piece of jade that is worn inside the vagina to strengthen and tone the muscles of the pelvic floor. It has ancient Taoist roots going back to 100 B.C. Considered a practice for priestesses to cultivate high levels of spiritual energy, it was also taught to courtesans to maintain youth, beauty, and vitality.

This beautiful, holistic practice gives womxn a tangible method for shifting their emotional reality with their bodies, healing and integrating trauma, and liberating sexual expression in a life-affirming and celebratory way.

As a Diasporic Blackapinx healing the ancestral lines on both sides of my family, I’m deeply honored to share my embodied experience with this ancient and potent self-healing practice/tool in a transparent and culturally/ancestrally respectful way.

You will learn:
-the history and lineage of this practice
-about cultural humility and appropriation. Specifically, how can we be in right relationship with practices/tools that are not our own?
-the many physical and psycho-emotional/spiritual benefits
-why jade?
-hygiene and safety
-a customized sequence (with or without the egg) that you can integrate into an already established self-care/self-pleasure practice or will help you to begin to create one.

Have a yoga mat, pillow, and/or blanket so you can get cozy. Wear comfortable clothing (yoga clothes are great). A water bottle, journal, and writing utensil are highly recommended as well. If you already have an egg, feel free to wear it to class, but it is not necessary to participate.
