28 Dec Exploring Plants Through the Woven Vessel
In this class students will learn about regenerative harvesting practices, material preparation, cordage making, and fundamental basket weaving techniques, including plaiting twining to create small woven vessels. Chloë will guide students through the basket weaving process while speaking to the wide array of plant fibers that can be used for basket weaving, specifically working with species found growing in backyards or urban neighborhoods like english ivy, himalayan blackberry, daylily, and more (seasonally dependent). This class is well suited for beginners with little to no basket weaving experience and also holds a space for more experienced weavers to explore different weaving materials.
Exploring Plants Through the Woven Vessel will shred by Chloë Hight.
