Emily Willow

Emily Williams MD, is a psychiatrist practicing in San Francisco, CA. She is currently serving as a sub-investigator, therapist, and study physician on a MAPS-sponsored (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD clinical trial. Her treatment philosophy focuses on opening patients to their own inner healer, using mindfulness-based techniques and a somatic approach. She aims to weave together multiple modalities to create a patient-guided treatment that is intuitive, integrative and holistic. She is in the ongoing process of conducting an analysis of the effects of MDMA on therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist. She currently serves as a mentor for the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research at the California Institute of Integral Studies and worked as the independent clinical rater for the MAPS-funded study on MDMA for end of life anxiety in Marin, CA. She has also served as a therapist on a psilocybin-assisted therapy study that was conducted at UCSF. In addition to her clinical and research work, she has a passion for harm reduction and has served as a supervisor for the Zendo Project which provides psychedelic harm reduction for events and festivals, such as Burning Man.
