Divine Reflections Ceremony

Divine Reflections Ceremony

Diversifying and deepening sisterhood through the Divine Reflections Ceremony.

I will curate a sacred circle with an altar in the center, smudge and set the space with the supplies needed. The ceremony begins with an opening prayer, calling in the elements and directions. Each being in the circle will introduce themselves and have the space to call upon their ancestral mothers, wisdom keepers and matriarchal line known and unknown. Moving into the first phase, everyone will turn to the left in the circle and gently braid and adorn the hair of the person in front of them or if hair is too short or sensitive to braid, just gracefully removing it from their face – ( I will have flowers, hair ties and headbands provided) During this time we will chant a traditional medicine song that was passed down through wise women for centuries and was passed to me from my mama Misty Dawn. After the hair adorning we will choose a partner to pair with and gently wash the face of one another (using a very simple and gentle face cleanser I will provide that is homemade in mama’s apothecary, Herb & Moon) Now the women/beings have arrived into their naked truth, bare skinned and satiated in the safety of feminine connection. Next each person will be given a hand held mirror and I will guide the group through mirror gazing with the self. During this exercise we will sing to our reflection another medicine song (one that I wrote) that acknowledges the rawness, wholeness and beauty in the person you see before you. This can bring up a lot and is a really incredible way of softening into total love for yourself. After this we will put the mirrors down and pair with new partners (the one across from you) we will drop into another eye gazing exercise, this time with a sister. We will continue to sing the song, acknowledging the wholeness and beauty of the being in front of you and then come into silence. I will guide us through a deepening exercise that I found through my own journey of eye gazing ritual. In this, the two beings come into unified consciousness, realizing that the person staring back at them is actually them. The same ocean, feeling itself as separate waves. Lastly, will open into the final part of the ceremony which is quite similar to the angel wash. All of the women will form a walkway and hold the handheld mirror facing outward. One by one a sister will walk down this aisle of divine reflections seeing their own gaze reflected back at them through the presence of every being. We will close the space with a closing prayer.
