Danielle Garber

Danielle is a weaver, teacher, woodworker, craftsperson and community organizer based in Oakland CA, where she also runs a women’s artisan workspace called 8th + Pine. She began weaving after stumbling upon a weaving shop when living in Argentina in 2011. Mesmerized by the looms and fibers she came home to the Bay Area and started working with a master weaver of the Swedish Tradition in Berkeley CA. Since then she has continued her practice in a 4 month Weaving Immersion Program with another master weaver at Vavstuga Weaving School in Massachusetts and has her personal practice at 8th + Pine making and selling her craft through word of mouth and craft shows. In addition to being a maker + crafter, she is also a teacher. She has been teaching bookbinding workshops for over 3 years, teaching a style she created herself and bringing people together to create with others. She believes fully in the importance of craft, being connected to the things we have in our lives and sharing our skills with others. She has just started to teach weaving in her studio and is currently working on having more workshops coming up this year!
