21 Dec Charting for Natural Birth Control
Attendees must take Menstrual Cycle Fundamentals first to attend this class OR demonstrate/explain at class sign up that they already know the fundamentals (have read books such as Taking Charge of Your Fertility; OR have attended a FAM class previously; OR are already charting. This is to make sure everyone is on the same page knowledge-wise so this class can be spent getting deeper into how to actually chart).
This class will pick up where Menstrual Cycle Fundamentals ended and focus on how to chart the menstrual cycle for contraception using the Justisse Method of Fertility Awareness. We will discuss in depth how to observe, chart, and interpret the fertile signs of the menstrual cycle and how to assess our cycles for health. This includes cervical mucus, basal body temperature, and cervical positioning. This class is specifically for those looking to avoid pregnancy now or indefinitely, including those who are currently using a different method of birth control and looking for other options. Attendees will leave with the basic knowledge they need to begin charting their cycles right away.
A portion of the class will also be spent discussing our individual and collective experiences with all types of birth control in a judgement-free and evidence-based way. I will also lead a discussion on how we might figure out the best method of birth control based on our needs, lifestyles, access, ability, partners, and values. Although we are specifically discussing the female reproductive system and fertility, I strive to make this class as inclusive as possible by using gender neutral terms and recognizing that not all attendees identify as women nor are in heterosexual relationships (or any relationship at all). Justisse Method charting materials will be available for purchase. It’s recommended to bring a notebook and something to write with.
Charting for Natural Birth Control will be shared by Vienna Farlow.
