20 Dec Beading as Medicine: Conversations Around Cultural Appropriation
In this class we will talk about the medicine that can be found in beadwork and how you can apply this method of creation to any other hobby and skill. Each student will be able to leave with a pair of earrings that they made that are completely unique to them in style, colors, patterns, etc. (no previous experience required). In this class we will gather around a picnic table like my mom and aunties did when I was a kid and bead and share stories and help each other. This will be a skill that you will be able to take home with you.
Another aspect of the class is having a gentle and open conversation about cultural appropriation and how to bead (and more) in ways that are non appropriative. This is a safe space to ask questions.
Beading as Medicine and Conversations Around Cultural Appropriation will be shared by Maybell Eequay.
